Origins & Atoll Heritage

Born from the currents of Rangiroa’s twin passes.

Te Mao Diving Center was founded in Avatoru to share French Polynesia’s richest pelagic sanctuary with care, humility, and rigorous safety. Rangiroa is one of the largest natural atolls on Earth, where powerful tidal surges between the lagoon and open ocean draw hammerheads, manta rays, and resident dolphins.

We operate under the traditional Polynesian philosophy of Rāhui — an ancestral practice of customary stewardship that safeguards marine zones to ensure biodiversity thrives for generations to come. Every dive we lead respects this balance.
